Mesquite is a leguminous bean which was used as a high-nutrient staple food by people living in the deserts of northern Mexico for hundreds of years. It has a low G.I of 25, which provides long-lasting energy and is a source of protein and dietary fibre.
Mesquite powder has a delicious, sweet caramel taste with a slightly nutty flavour. It can be easily incorporated into baking and everyday recipes as a flour substitute.

HOW TO USE
Substitute 30% of your regular flour with mesquite powder to improve the nutritional content of your baking. Mesquite can also be used as a thickener in gravy, casseroles and soups.
Note: Like many legumes, mesquite is best eaten cooked not raw.
